Allocation”, 40 Week Leadtime”, “We can not confirm a delivery date

In recent months these are all statements we have been hearing from our customers when they tell us about the current supply situation of Semiconductors.

We are clearly heading into a “shortage phase” of the semiconductor cycle, most commentators expect this to last well into 2018..……but there is a sensible alternative. Design with confidence, design with Microchip

Microchip are committed in 2018 for an overall reduction in lead times.

We have worked with several customers who have given up on such lead times and realised the only option is to redesign. Why settle for another vendors ARM Coretex Microcontroller on 40 week lead time when most Atmel ARM processors from Microchip are available on lead times that everyone is used to?

How can Microchip achieve this?

They own a number of wafer fabs, and control manufacturing from end to end for most of their products. Many other manufacturers are very heavily dependent on 3rd party fabs. Microchip has invested heavily to increase production capacity and in 2018 lead times will see general improvements.

Microchip is much more than Microcontrollers. For an overview of the wide range of technology offerings please see www.microchip.com
