SD cards is closely related to the Multimedia Card (MMC) since the MMC served as the basis for the development of SD cards.

SD cards is thicker than MMC cards for greater memory capacity (additionally 2 pins and 0.7 mm “thicker”). Most applications have a DualSlot that allows the use of both memory card types.

Mini SD Cards

Mini SD Card was designed to meet the demand for smaller size and higher density memory for portable devices. While the size of Miini SD has been reduced more than 60% (in mounting volume), it has retained all of its original features.

Mini SD is delivered with an Adapter. The adapter makes the Mini SD Card work as a standard SD Memory Card. With the aid of the adapter the Mini SD Card fits exactly in the Standard SD Card slot.

Micro SD Cards

Transfer speed (write) up to 5MB/s.

The Micro SD card is currently the world’s smallest memory card format, with the dimensions 11 x 15 x 1 mm (the size of a fingernail), and is particularly used in various mobile phones, GPS and MP3 players.

Micro SD is delivered with an Adapter. With the aid of the adapter the Micro SD Card fits exactly in the Standard SD Card slot.

In addition to the ATA Card, the CompactFlash Card (in short: CF Card) was the first memory card that contains its own controller (interface; memory management; error correction ...). With its dimensions of 42.8 x 36.4 x 3.3mm, it was one of the first Small Form Factor Cards and is very popular in the market.

The CF Card is also used in many industrial applications. There is an almost unmanageable multitude of manufacturers and derivatives.

Multimedia Cards (MMC)

Because the MMC was also the basis for the development of the SecureDigital Card, it is usable in many SD Card slots.

MMC Micro

Transfer speed (read) up to 10 MB/s, (write) up to 7MB/s.

• Dimensions: 12 x 14 x 1.1 mm, even smaller than RS MMC (barely larger than a fingernail)
• Usable in the MMC slot with the adapter
• Operating voltage: 3.3 or 1.8 volts

Because the MMC was also the basis for the development of the SecureDigital Card, it is usable in many SD Card slots.
